AiFi Announces Planned CEO Transition as CTO João Diogo (JD) Falcão Becomes Chief Executive Officer

Santa Clara, Calif. – Sep. 10, 2025 – AiFi, the leading spatial intelligence company powering autonomous retail experiences worldwide, today announced a planned leadership transition. The company’s Chief Technology Officer and co-founder, João Diogo (JD) Falcão, will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer. Outgoing CEO Steve Carlin will transition back to his role as a Venture Partner with Translink Capital after successfully guiding the company through a critical phase of growth.

Carlin, who joined AiFi in 2022, was appointed to help accelerate the company’s scaling efforts, strengthen its go-to-market strategy, and expand global partnerships. Under his leadership, AiFi has grown exponentially with over 300 autonomous stores deployed worldwide, processing over 90 petabytes of spatial data annually, and securing key partnerships with Microsoft, Aldi, and major sports venues including the innovative Intuit Dome.

“Steve’s leadership was instrumental in helping AiFi scale during a pivotal and rocky stage,” said Falcão. “He has built a strong team and business foundation, and I am honored to add onto that momentum. As a co-founder and technologist, I’m deeply committed to driving AiFi’s mission forward: unlocking the power of spatial intelligence for retailers, brands, and businesses everywhere.”

Falcão has been with AiFi since its inception, serving as CTO and spearheading the development of its proprietary spatial AI platform. He has played a central role in advancing the company’s technology, building its engineering teams, and defining its long-term strategy.

Carlin added, “My role at AiFi was always intended to be short term, focused on guiding the company through a critical growth phase. JD has been here from the beginning, and I couldn’t imagine a better person to lead AiFi into the future. I look forward to continuing to support him and the team as an advisor.”

The leadership transition has been carefully planned to ensure stability across operations, strategy, and customer engagements. AiFi remains on track with its financial and growth targets, with no changes to investor commitments or customer partnerships.
