Checkout-free market coming to Ford Field

The Lions and hospitality provider Levy are partnering with Verizon and AiFi to pilot a checkout-free market at Ford Field, debuting this month for the final Lions home games of the season and the QuickLane Bowl. The 400-square-foot market will transform a previous traditional belly-up concessions stand into a frictionless experience. Customers enter the space by inserting a credit card, select their items, then exit without needing to check out. Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband technology and AiFi’s computer vision and analytical capabilities power the store. The market will feature hot food, which is significant as this so far has been a challenge for autonomous checkout stores. The Ford Field market also will offer packaged snacks, soft drinks and bottled water.
